Dignitaries from the state of Massachusetts and company officials on November 17 celebrated a ceremonial grand opening of Rectrix Aviation’s new FBO at Worcester Regional Airport in Massachusetts. While Rectrix started operating at the airport two years ago out of pre-existing facilities, finishing touches on the $5 million, two-year renovation and construction projects for the Rectrix Aerodrome Center were completed just recently.

Rectrix’s new Aerodrome at Worcester features 20,000 sq ft of heated hangar space and an additional 10,000 sq ft of office/FBO space, and incorporates the designs of other Rectrix locations. Amenities include concierge services, a flight planning room and crew lounge. AirFlyte-provided maintenance is available through the Rectrix facility.

Since establishing its first FBO in 2005 in Bedford, Mass., Rectrix has expanded to Hyannis and Westfield, Mass., and Sarasota, Fla. In 2009, Rectrix acquired New World Jet Corp., enabling the company to offer charter flights in its fleet of Learjet 45s and Challenger 300s. Next year, a Cat. IIIILS is scheduled to be operational at Worcester, increasing the airport’s accessibility in extremely low visibility.

Rectrix has been a strong proponent of Worcester Regional Airport as an economic hub for the region,” said Rectrix Aviation CEO Richard Cawley. “We believe that our new FBO, first class amenities and best-in-class maintenance operations will help generate opportunities and jobs in the region, and be another signal to the world that Central Massachusetts is a good place to do business.”

Having a first-class FBO at Worcester will help grow the airport,’’ said Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito. “Massport studies show that corporate and general aviation, along with the niche commercial service, will be the drivers of the airport, which is an economic engine for the region.’’
