African flight support firm Astra Aviation has expanded its presence in the continent with a new location at Harare International Airport, the capital of Zimbabwe. The new facility, Astra’s ninth in the region, includes a 28,590-sq-ft/2,656-sq-m hangar. Besides aircraft handling and flight support services, Astra Aviation Harare can also provide airport transfers; airline and hotel booking; tourist services into game lodges and Victoria Falls; airport lounge access; and security.

According to Astra, the airport is a hub for air and road transfers to many regional destinations and a center for imports and exports. Additionally, Astra expects the location to serve as a regional hub for air ambulance flights, as well as a destination for tourists staying in the area’s game lodges and resorts.

In further planned expansion, Astra intends to add an office at Victoria Falls Airport within the next two months and expand its Zambia team at Livingstone Airport, which is located on the Zambia side of the falls that are one of the “Seven Wonders of the Natural World” and attract more than two million visitors annually.

Astra Aviation’s network stretches the whole of southern Africa, from Angola on the Atlantic Ocean through Zambia and Zimbabwe to Mozambique on the Indian Ocean.
